আন্দোলন / Movements

Our Fight for Rights and Recognition

ST Status Demand Movement / তফছিলী উপজাতি মৰ্যাদাৰ দাবী আন্দোলন

The most significant and ongoing movement of Assam Moran Sabha, demanding constitutional recognition of the Moran community as a Scheduled Tribe under the Constitution of India.

Despite being one of the oldest indigenous communities of Assam with a distinct language, culture, and ethnic identity, the Moran community is yet to receive the ST status that would entitle them to reservations in education, government employment, and political representation.

AMS has submitted memorandums to the President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, and the Chief Minister of Assam on multiple occasions. Mass rallies and demonstrations have been organized across Assam.
